Senator Spotlight: “Reel Obsession” - Cory & Kim’s RH690

Cory and Kim’s boating adventures are a familiar story for many Marlburian families. They were looking for a boat that could serve a dual purpose—ideal for fishing trips while also offering comfort for longer journeys and overnight adventures.

Specced to handle all types of fishing adventures - from the inner Sounds to chasing snapper, kingfish and groper near D’Urville and Bluefin missions off Greymouth - while also providing the necessary features for comfortable overnight stays closer to home, here’s a look at the build customisation and fit out that mean this Senator RH690 is made for Cory and Kim.

Build Specs

  • Transom cages add extra safety and stability when fishing – also an epic spot to fight a fish

  • Live bait tank

  • Plenty of rod holders to ensure there’s space for all set ups

  • Bow ladder for beach landing or launch and retrieve

  • High bow rail for casting off the front

  • Underfloor storage - whether it’s for gear or their catch

  • Lockable cabin for secure storage or privacy

  • Upgraded comfort squabs for some well-earned shut eye after an early start or a day on the water

Fit Up

  • GSD28 sonar module paired with their transducers enables deep water fishing for the likes of Groper and Bluenose

  • The 16 inch Garmin screen and Fantom radar make for easy and safe navigation to the fishing grounds

  • Comprehensive lighting package for overnighting or fishing after dark - RGB underwater, live bait tank, lighting strip under the gunnels, and Red/White lights in the cabin and deck

  • Rear drop clears keep the weather out on bad days and provide protection for overnighters. These can be removed for even more flexibility

  • The Yamaha F250XCB the perfect power match for the RH690. It has power to burn, solid economy and Yamaha’s renown reliability. The electric steering upgrade makes it easy for a Helm Master EX upgrade in the future

With such an impressive rig, we’re sure there will be some epic catches and tales to tell from missions on Reel Obsession!
Happy New Boat Day, team!
