Storing Your Waverunner

24 May 2023

When storing your Waverunner for an extended period of time, such as over Winter, here are a few tips to ensure it’s in the best shape for when you want to use it again

Fuel

Before storing your jet ski, try to run the fuel down as much as possible. The less fuel left in the ski when storing it, the better.

To give the fuel that is left in the ski the best chance of being usable next season, fuel stabilizer can be added.

Yamalube Fuel Stabilizer and Conditioner is specifically formulated to help protect your engine’s fuel system.

Hull

Thoroughly wash and dry your ski to remove any dirt and salt. Ensure you remove the seats to allow the engine bay to vent and dry out completely.

Using an anti-corrosion spray on the jet unit will aid in corrosion prevention.

Dirty Steve Foaming Wash is great for giving your ski a thorough clean. Follow by drying with a drying cloth.

Remove seats and allow the engine bay to dry completely before storing.

Battery

Use a quick connect battery maintenance charger to ensure the battery doesn’t go completely flat over duration of storage. Locking your ski will not only keep it safer, but it also lowers the draw on the battery.

You can remove the battery or leave it in the ski while connected to a battery maintenance charger.

Maintenance and Servicing

Set yourself a reminder mid-Winter to start your ski for five minutes. Use the flushing instructions to get oil moving around the engine, ensuring the engine components stay lubricated. This will safeguard against engine issues and mean your ski will be ready to go in the warmer months.

Winter is also a great time to have your ski serviced. The service will provide a mid-Winter run, catch any issues and make sure it’s in great shape when you’re ready to get back on the water.
