From The Workshop: Stabicraft 589 Re-Power

4 April 2023

Mark recently completed an outboard re-power on this Stabicraft 589 Supercab. With plenty of life left in the hull, but an outboard that was showing signs of age and unreliability, re-powering was a great option to give these boaties years more enjoyment out on the water.

Here’s look through the re-power process. The old engine is removed, new engine is mounted – Yamaha F200hp, and new Yamaha remote and gauges are installed. We also on water performance test the new outboard to ensure the engine height is correct, the outboard is operating at optimum revs, the prop selection is correct and if the set up is operating at optimum fuel efficiency.
